Trauma, Complex PTSD, and Couples Therapy
in Overland Park, KS
I’m so glad you’re here.
My name is Carolina and I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in Kansas. If you’re reading this, chances are you’re feeling stuck. Overwhelmed. Lost. Out of control. Scared.
I’ve been there too.
Being human sure feels complicated sometimes, doesn’t it? Thankfully, you don’t have to navigate it alone. I’ve been trained from an experiential, attachment-based approach to help you identify patterns, process unresolved emotions, and find greater acceptance as you work toward deeper meaning and wholeness.
I would be honored to come alongside you and help you work toward the meaningful change you’ve been longing for.
Specialties
High-Conflict Couples
Relationships are quite the thing. Somehow, they hold the power to both hurt us and heal us deeply. I work with couples who find themselves in patterns of communication that have become painful and unproductive. Whether your fights end in a screaming match or a deafening silence that only furthers disconnection, I’m here to help. Using an evidence-based modality called Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), I help couples create a space to express their experiences, identify underlying needs, and learn to show up for each other in ways that feel productive and healing.
Complex PTSD (CPTSD)
Sometimes, our past feels complicated. You might find yourself thinking about your childhood and saying, “It wasn’t all bad.” Yet for some reason, you know the wounds haven’t quite healed and the anxiety seems to have made a permanent home in your stomach. While it might seem easier to try to forget, there’s a part of you that knows this younger version of you deserves to be seen, heard, and fought for. With your permission, I would be honored to create this space with you. Using an experiential modality called Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), I hope to help you safely experience and process unresolved emotions tied to traumatic memories.
Adult Children of Immigrant Families
Children of immigrant families in America face a unique set challenges. On the one hand, they grow up honoring and embodying their family’s values and expectations. On the other hand, however, they also start to develop an identity formed inside a Western framework. As a Brazilian-born, Korean-American immigrant, I get it. As you’ve grown older, maybe you’ve found the tension between these identities growing stronger. Maybe you find yourself feeling confused, guilty, or lonely. Together, we can unpack these experiences and explore what a healthy relationship with yourself and your loved ones might look like.
